Digital Printing

Digital printing is a method of reproducing in a digital form a picture onto a particular medium. It typically refers to mass production, where many tiny jobs from computer desktop publishing, letterhead printing, and other digital resources are reproduced using high-volume and/or high-speed laser or inkjet printers. It is the latest printing technology that is being used worldwide for a wide range of print needs. Large format and screen printing are some of the common uses of this printing technology. The following paragraphs will offer insights into what this digital printing technology is and how it can be beneficial to business organizations. With proper implementation, you can experience the following:

Simplicity is the key to success in digital printing. It is the ability to produce top-quality prints without having to add extra material to the printer such as toner and ink cartridges. This enables the printers to produce prints quickly which results in reduced overall runs time. With an optimized print surface, it is easy for the ink to spread on the substrate and create a flawless finish.

The three main methods of Digital Printing are digital print, inkjet print, and thermal print. Digital print (DTP) is the oldest and the most widely used method. The setup is relatively simple. A computer application creates the print target, which contains a template of the document that is printed. The printer then transfers the image onto the required substrate with the use of a compatible ink cartridge. The three different types of printing processes mentioned here have their own advantages and disadvantages.

The most popular digital printing method is a digital print on paper. There are many advantages of using this method because of its flexibility to produce high-quality prints that last for years. There are basically two types of paper used in this process - full color and full-bleed. With the use of specially coated plates, the paper can be coated with different colors of ink that will give the prints a glossy look.

One of the common digital printing disadvantages is the slow speed of the process. Some printers work well when they are fast but become ineffective as the print runs out. Some printers also tend to smear or fade colors when left in direct sunlight, which is also known as fade resistance. Another disadvantage of this process is that some printers can only print in certain resolutions while others cannot print at all.

The second type of Digital Printing has offset printing. This is done by inserting thin sheets of plastic where the design is to be printed onto. After the design has been reformatted, the plastic is fed into an offset press where the plastic is pressed against the paper that has been attached to the upper bed. The image is then fed onto the roller underbrush that forms the actual print area. The advantage of using this method is that it gives you more control over the quality of the image and you can adjust the thickness of the stamps to get the best look. It also allows you to create thicker and wider text and can reproduce high-resolution photographic prints easily.

A a relatively new form of digital printing is known as digital offset printing. In this process, images are processed by a computer just like traditional offset printing. This allows images to be created very quickly, which is beneficial when creating lots of individual prints. The process works by using specially designed inks that are applied to the print head on the printer. This then causes the print head to move back and forth producing the image on the paper.

These types of digital printing are preferred over the other two methods because they are faster and produce more professional-looking prints that offset printing and digital printing. They are also preferred because they are capable of producing large format prints from computer-aided designs (CAD). The biggest disadvantage is that the cost of large format printing can be expensive compared to offset printing or the offset method.
